The cause of the hauntings at the Jerome Grand Hotel remains a mystery. The apparition of a woman in white has been seen roaming the halls. A ghostly nurse with a clipboard is seen in one of the hotel’s rooms. Lastly, the ghost of a little boy has been known to run through the bar area in search of his mother during the late hours of the night. Screaming and apparitions are all consistently witnessed at the Jerome Grand Hotel.
Built during the late 1800s, the Hill School Chapel was a gift from the alumni of the exclusive boarding school. John Meigs, the one of the school’s first headmasters, was suffering from severe depression, and he hung himself from a light inside of the chapel. Due to the fact his suicide was such a sin, Meigs could not be buried on holy ground; instead, he is buried outside the side doors of the chapel.
The Cherokee Cemetery has had several reports of flashing lights emanating from it. The sound of a man screaming can be heard. On many accounts, people have said they were chased by an unseen entity.
The Ovaltine Factory was abandoned some time during the 20th century (most likely during the 1960s). In the late 70s and early 80s, the factory had become a popular hangout for teenagers looking to party. During this time, it was also used by the homeless and satanic worship rituals for occult groups.
Lawang Sewu, which means “one thousand doors” in Indonesian, literally has 1,000 doors. Built during the 18th century and left over from the Netherlands Colonialism, it features Netherlands-style architecture. In addition to the terrifying sensation of getting lost in such a large building, there is also a paranormal element.
The sound of chanting with no origin can be heard coming from behind Hell’s Gates at Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. Things have been known the be thrown through the air, but nothing ever hits the ground. Footsteps, whispering, and screaming are just some of the noises heard coming from the mansion beyond the gates. It is unnaturally cold behind the gates.
