During the construction of Hanshew Middle School, a little girl was killed by one of the machines. Now she haunts the school by roaming through its halls. She seemingly only comes out during the early morning and late at night.
Saint John’s Catholic School’s rectory was haunted by the ghost of Sister Irenita, a nun who died in 1931. For five years following her death, both students and nuns alike saw her spirit every night. Her appearances occurred up until a special mass was held in order to put her to rest. Vandals dug up her coffin and exposed her corpse, which Monsignor Cullen of the parish said was in perfect condition, being soft to the touch, even despite the fact she had been buried for over five years and had a tree root break into her coffin.
The Washington Elementary School is haunted by the ghost of a 13-year-old boy who walks around in the halls at night. Other activity includes cold spots, the sound of knocking, and scratching sounds, even when no one is around. It is unknown how the boy died, or if he is the only spirit at the school.
The Chi Omega Sorority House in Bowling Green State University is believed to be haunted by a pledge from the 1940s or 1950s that was killed by the train on the railroad tracks. Not much is known about this haunting.
The Indian Reservation Elementary School burned down a few years ago, killing a small group of teachers and children. Now, objects can be seen moving by the remains of the school. Laughing children can be heard as if they are still playing. In the gym, which remained intact from the fire, the sound of a bouncing basketball can be heard, although the area has remained locked. The coach’s office light stays on all the time for unknown reason, and it has never burned out.
It is said that the West High School has restless humanoid creatures that wander in the basement, auditorium, and region connecting to the middle school. For some unknown reason, the creatures take their anger out on students and young teachers.
Both students and teachers alike have reported white moving apparitions, unexplainable sounds, and footsteps in the halls of the Decatur High School. The building was built in 1950, and there are no known deaths in its history. It is unknown why the school is haunted.
At night, when it is past school hours, ghosts of those who have died on campus wander around, looking for victims to scare and/or attempt to kill to bring them to their side. Luckily, no one has ever been killed by one of the spirits of the Thornton Academy. Not much is known about the haunting of the school.
The Northern State University, located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, has two notable haunted locations; Jerde Hall and the Johnson Fine Arts Center.
Carroll College was founded in 1909 by John Patrick Carroll, the second Bishop of the Diocese of Helena, Montana at the time. Originally, the school was named the Mount St. Charles in honor of St. Charles Borromeo. Initially, it served as an all-male liberal arts college, focusing on training young men for careers in medicine, law, engineering, teaching, and priesthood. Now, it is coeducational.
In 1972, a little girl was accidentally locked up in Elsberry High School, and she was either murdered or killed in an accident. Now, TVs turn on and off by themselves, visitors start to bleed for no reason, and the spirit of a blood-soaked man appearing in the basement. His apparition has suggested that the girl was in fact murdered.
The ghost of a young Shakespearian actor named Malcolm is believed to haunt the Harrison High School Auditorium. His footsteps can be heard on the stage and the catwalk above. Mysterious orbs of light without any kind of source have appeared on the catwalk.
