The Washington Elementary School is haunted by the ghost of a 13-year-old boy who walks around in the halls at night. Other activity includes cold spots, the sound of knocking, and scratching sounds, even when no one is around. It is unknown how the boy died, or if he is the only spirit at the school.
The old schoolhouse in Fincastle, Ohio is located off Interstate RT.62. The school closed in the 1960s, and it is now in poor condition. The second floor has collapsed into the first. Lights can be seen coming from the second floor windows and rooms, even despite no one is up there. Years ago, locals would trespass into the school with flashlights and watch as groups of ghost children walked single file through the halls. The spirit of a man with a lantern has been seen walking through the school, followed by a little girl screaming in the background, “No, Daddy, no! Please stop!”.
The Indian Reservation Elementary School burned down a few years ago, killing a small group of teachers and children. Now, objects can be seen moving by the remains of the school. Laughing children can be heard as if they are still playing. In the gym, which remained intact from the fire, the sound of a bouncing basketball can be heard, although the area has remained locked. The coach’s office light stays on all the time for unknown reason, and it has never burned out.
The Old Presidents Elementary’s gym is located on the upstairs floor, and it has been completely condemned so people may not enter it. There have been sightings of a ghostly class of students wearing early 20th century clothing coming from the gym. The source of the haunting is unknown.
