The Sallie House has been deemed the most haunted house in Kansas, sporting nine confirmed spirits (the most famous being the ghost of a little girl named Sallie). Male visitors have been maliciously scratched by an unseen ghost. Several EVPs and full-body apparitions have been witnessed and collected from the house. The owner (who lives in Atchison) lets paranormal investigation groups into the house as long as they have made an appointment.
On December 7th, 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy bombed Navy Base Pearl Harbor (now Hickam Field, formerly and most commonly known as Hickam Air Force Base) to prevent any future attacks on Japan. The bombing led to extreme amounts of damage, aircraft destruction, 189 people killed, and 303 injured. Now, the base is said to be haunted by the 189 lingering souls.
The Howard House belonged to General Oliver Otis Howard “Old Howard”, a tough old Marine who passed away in 1871. He haunted his wife and single child for two months, forcing them to move out. Later buyers of the home were attacked by his spirit, and they were often dragged off the bed, thrown to the ground, and witness to eerie groaning.
Police have investigated the happenings, only to find no explanation for the phenomena. In the early 1900s, a little girl had the blankets ripped up and off of her. She heard panting next to her, but when she turned on her gas lamp, she found nothing. She and her family moved out the very next day. These days, Howard does not torment anyone.
