History
Indian Meadows and Shady Grove are a pair of sister communities situated in Adamsville, Alabama. Built atop ancient Cherokee burial grounds, it is unsurprising the area is haunted by restless spirits.
Haunting
For over three decades, Indian Meadows and Shady Grove have garnered dozens of reports of paranormal activity. The strange occurrences are most prevalent at night. The spirits appear to be benign. Mysterious dark figures are seen lurking in the surrounding woods and scurrying past windows. Residents who take a late night stroll hear and/or feel presences following them, only to turn around and find no one there. One man heard scratching on his front porch. When he turned the lights on to investigate, he found no trace of humans or animals making the noise. The next morning, he discovered claw marks running down the porch bannister. Homeowners in the communities have claimed to hear disembodied footsteps in the halls, on the stairs, and running through the house, sourceless voices calling their names, and scratching noises from outside. Doors have been known to slam by themselves and electrical equiptment turns on and off. A floating face of a sobbing man once appeared on several doors inside of a house.
