Hell’s Gates

History

Hell’s Gates was an old heavy, black set of gates guarding a private driveway leading to a sizable mansion at the base of Green Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. A phantom car drives down the road and subsequently disappears, seemingly to scare visitors away. The gates were private property, belonging to the man residing in the mansion. Objects would fly through the air as if thrown, but never hit the ground. Visitors report hearing mysterious chanting, disembodied screams and whispers, and the sounds of running and walking in the area behind the gates known as Owens Cross Roads; the area was described as being unnaturally cold. Hell’s Gates were eventually removed.
