History
Barnesville, Alabama was a small community in Marion County with a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, two churchs (one Missionary Baptist, one Freewill Baptist), and a cemetery. The Barnesville Post Office operated from 1855 to 1907. While the town is primarily vacant, a scattered populace remains in Barnesville and attend “Decoration Day” on the third Sunday of May.
