History

On October 13th, 1907 at 1:30 AM, a group of naval officers claimed that Lt. James Sutton went insane and shot himself in front of the other officers. The very same day, Sutton’s ghost began to appear to his mother and sister, who lived in Portland, Oregon, and did not know of his death yet.

Sutton told them that he didn’t actually shoot himself, and that he was in fact beaten to death by one of the naval officers. After this occurrence, the Suttons started an investigation. They asked that his body be exhumed from the Arlington Cemetery, and, upon autopsy, it was discovered that Lt. James Sutton had been beaten before being shot. No one was ever charged with murder.

    1. Thanks! Are there any particular haunts you’d like me to add to Ghostly World? I’ll gladly do one for you. Since there are so many different haunts, it is always nice to have one picked out for me to do.

      1. Oh, yay! 😀 Um…gosh… I don’t know that many really :/ (since well… I’m from crappy old Belgium –‘) but if you have any hauntings with dramatic/sad stories? (I know most of them are but for example one we do have here in Belgium, about a little girl that once -as she was playing- accidentally set fire to a house (or a small castle, don’t quite remember) and some people could escape (I think everyone made it out, like the household , the parents and such, .. ) but the little girl herself got trapped in the house. And died. You can still see her ghost wandering through the house. It is believed that she’s still searching for a way to make up what she did, since if you see her, and if you’re able to see her face you can see her cry as she feels sorry. And lonely.

      2. I will look out for the most horrific haunt I can find, and I’ll see what I can find out about the little girl. Until I complete the next post, be sure to check out Dorea Asylum. It’s my most intense post so far.

      4. That doctor was insane. Dorea is one of my favorite hauntings now due to its intensity.

      5. Most of those kind of doctors were completely mad.. :/

      6. Exactly. Ironically, they treated what they called “insane” patients, even though most of the doctors were more insane than who they were treating.

      7. Indeed. The patients were just troubled or confused. Poor guys…

      8. I’m sure a few of them were actually “insane” (like the criminally insane), but it doesn’t justify the horrific and barbaric treatments.

      9. No one deserves to be tortured or abused that way.

      12. The only reason that the ones I’m thinking of deserve it is because they tortured others.

      15. Hitler… he never made his own hands dirty. He just commanded other people to do so. Still, I’d have him tortured as well, even though he’s just a worked up little brat who didn’t even have the guts to do something personal. Just bossed people around. Stupid bastard
